As of Monday 30th July, drivers on the A50 Eastbound that wish to get on to the M1 Southbound may do so by using the new A50-M1 On-slip. This new road splits off from the A50-Junction 24 Bypass and runs over the newly constructed A50-M1 connection bridge. The new On-slip aims to reduce traffic build-up around the A50 and Junction 24 by having the M1 Southbound traffic from the A50 completely bypass Junction 24
SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway (SLPEMG) is a large-scale logistics park which will house up to 6 million square feet of warehouse premises covering around 700 acres. It will have its own rail terminal for the exclusive use of freight traffic with the aim of supporting and encouraging the increased movement of freight by rail in the East Midlands region.
In advance of occupation of warehouses or the operation of the rail terminal, extensive improvements will be undertaken to the road network in the immediate vicinity of the site. The site itself will be serviced, levelled and landscaped to accommodate built development.
The developed scheme is expected to generate in excess of 7,250 jobs.
